Netflix Canada lands a deal for Paramount movies

If you’re a Netflix subscriber in Canada here’s a bit of good news for you.

Netflix landed a multi-year deal with Paramount Pictures to bring hundreds of new movies and content to Canadian Netflix subscribers.  The agreement includes exclusive subscription TV rights to first-run movies and puts movies in the “premium pay TV window” for releases.
Netflix’s Canadian service has been criticized for lack of content when compared to their American counterpart.

In fairness to Netflix Canada this isn’t their fault but moreover the practices and policies of the antiquated CRTC.  Canadian broadcast rights are separate from the US rights, forcing Netflix Canada to renegotiate each broadcast deal separately for Canada and the USA.  Netflix Canada’s deal with Paramount will grow their movie library by more than 350 titles including Iron Man 2.
