iPad 2 is Here

Steve Jobs introduced the All New, Redesigned iPad 2 today featuring:

  • All new design
  • Available in Black or White
  • only 8.8mm thick (Thinner)
  • 1.3 lbs (Lighter)
  • Faster Processor A5 Chip
  • CPU is 2x faster
  • Graphics are 9x Faster
  • 10 hr batter life as before
  • Front and Rear Cameras
  • Built in Gyroscope
  • HDMI video output with adapter
  • Magnetic Smart Covers to protect iPad instead of case

 

In addition to HDMI Mirrored output via optional cable the iPad 2 features enhanced AirPlay support to stream media content to and from the iPad to other iDevices including Apple TV.

As originally predicted the new iPad 2 has two cameras – front and rear and supports Apple’s FaceTime and new to the iPad Photo Booth (Similar to Mac)

Apple also announced the New iOS Operating system iOS 4.3 and new $4.99 Apps iMovie and Garage Band for the iPad 2.  These new Apps are Killer

Steve closed his keynote by saying the following, “This is worth repeating. It’s in Apple’s DNA that technology is not enough. It’s tech married with the liberal arts and the humanities that yields us the result that makes our hearts sing.   Nowhere is that more true than in the post-PC products. Our competitors are looking at this like it’s the next PC market. That is not the right approach to this. These are pos-PC devices that need to be easier to use than a PC, more intuitive.”

The Apple iPad2 will be available in Canada March 25th, 2011
