Manufacturer Nissho Electronics launched it’s glasses-free 52-inch, 3D display today (may 23, 2011) with Full 1080P resolution and No Glasses Required. The $21,000 display is originally targeted toward business and digital signage applications but as production increase and the price decreases it’s feasible to see these and similar displays in consumer homes as early as 2013. Nissho’s current 52”, 1080P Glasses free 3D display features a 2,000:1 contract ratio, 8ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate. Nissho calls there glasses free 3D technology, “2D + depth” implementation.
I still remember the first LCD display my buddy bought a Sharp 20″, 720p LCD display which set him back $2800 dollars, ten years ago. Using the historical math and Moore’s law, we should see Glasses Free 3D TV under $10,000 in less than 2 years!
