The iPad2 Smart Cover is great and works well at protecting the iPad 2’s front glass screen but it leaves the aluminum back and sides exposed and vulnerable. There are several portfolio cases that cover up the front back and sides of the iPad 2 however they increase the overall thickness of the iPad which some users don’t like.
A number of different manufacturers make back covers for the iPad 2 which work in conjunction with Apple’s iPad 2 Smart Cover. One such cover we had the chance to review is the HyperShield Back Cover.
The Hypershield back cover is a mere 1.4mm thickand wraps around the back and sides of the iPad 2 providing much needed protection. It’s made of thermoplastic polyurethane and available in 10 colors to match Apple’s own Smart Cover. Suggested list price on the Hypershield is $19.95.
Personally I still prefer a portfolio style iPad case however if you love Apple’s Smart Cover and want something to protect the back of your iPad the Hypershield Back Cover may be just the ticket!
